Description
The Delta 290 power amplifier is an ideal ‘plug and play’ upgrade for any hi-fi system incorporating an Arcam integrated amplifier or A/V amplifier/processor. It can be used simply to increase your system’s available power or may be used to achieve outstanding results in bi- or tri-amplified systems.
Technically, the Delta 290 power amplifier is closely based on the VMOSFET power stages of the remarkable Delta 290 integrated amplifier. Its continuous power output is over 70 Watts per channel into 8 ohms, both channels driven, rising to a peak output of 140 Watts per channel into 4 ohms. Like the Delta 290, the 290P’s peak output current capability is an extraordinary +/- 18 amps per channel, allowing it to cope with most ‘difficult’ speaker loads. And it also incorporates comprehensive thermal and electronic overload protection to protect it against inadvertent overload or abuse.
For optimum results we suggest you couple the Delta 290P to an Arcam Delta 290 or Alpha 9 integrated amplifier, using the 290P to drive the speaker’s bass/mid-range units, whilst the integrated amplifier’s original power amplifiers are retained to drive the treble units. A bi-amplified Delta 290/290P or Alpha 9/290P combination sounds superb, surpassing separates systems costing up to twice as much. Twin paralleled pairs of gold-plated input sockets allow the ‘daisy chaining’ of extra power amplifiers and the easy parallelling of both channels when required. And as a further bonus in multi-room or multi speaker systems, the Delta 290 is fitted with two independent pairs of loudspeaker sockets, with front panel switching via heavy duty relays. A headphone socket is also included.
